At Bumb'ingomso, we believe change needs to be rooted in a firm sense of one's identity where young people have a sense of community, connectedness and have the ability to make choices regarding their lives. Fundamentally, behavior only changes when people want to change and feel empowered to change. This means that motivation must be at the center of our strategy - tackling the complex subconscious calculus of risk and reward that shapes people's behavior.

This is articulated through our project's key strategies:

Ignite
Through the Bumb'ingomso Leadership Network (BLN) for young women and girls, we envisage a platform for young women leading change in their communities. We endeavor to support young women who are motivated to affect change in their homes schools and communities through a guided training program and hands-on support.

Connect
In order to make choices in their lives, young people need to be connected to opportunities and structures to support them. We do this through the Opportunity Hub and other services. We also connect like-minded young people with each other to leverage the power of their own networks to affect change in their communities.

Mobilize
Through a focused face-to-face communications strategy, we want to enable young women to actively engage in shaping their own safer sexual behavior. This includes driving the discourse in their own spaces and challenge norms that inhibit them from achieving their full potential.
